A refined and uncommon Victorian washstand toiletware box, this 1887 KEW pattern piece by Brown-Westhead Moore & Co. in England features the botanical brown transfer decoration associated with the Aesthetic Movement. These elongated lidded dishes, complete with divided interiors, were part of dressing or hygiene sets "” used to hold toothbrushes, razors, combs, or small grooming tools atop a washstand or dressing table. Measures approximately 9" long, 4" deep and 1.75" tall. Good antique condition commensurate with age "” crazing, light interior staining, glaze toning, and minor discoloration along edges. No cracks or chips noted, and the transfer remains well-defined. Structurally sound and displays beautifully.
