Rare antique carved and signed ink stone for holding ink when making calligraphy in ancient China. This stone is housed in a wood box. The wood has shrunk after decades in changing climate and various temperatures. This set continues to look beautiful even though the top does not sit all the way on the base. We have shown this in the photos. This set is very old and original. Not a modern reproduction.
