Description:Honga Dori: Hagoromo, from the series Honga Dori ('Pictorial Allusions, Reused Blocks'). - Hagoromo (the celestial feather robe) is a popular legend, which has been featured in numerous art works, comprising a Noh play: Fisherman Hakuryo saw a beautiful robe hanging on the branch of a pine tree on the Miho beach and took it home. A celestial maiden appeared and asked him to return the robe to her. At first, Hakuryo refudes to return it. However, he felt sorry for the celestial maiden, who lamented that she couldn't go home to heaven without it. He therefore decided to return the feather robe to her in return for her celestial dance. The celestial maiden performed the dance in her feather robe. The dance describes the Palace of the Moon. She praised the beauty of Miho-no-Matsubara in spring. She eventually disappeared in the haze, beyond the peak of Mt. Fuji.
