3pc Morton Ceramic Bird Planters

Description

A charming three-piece collection of American art pottery by Morton Pottery, featuring their signature lovebird motif. The set includes one wall pocket planter and two coordinating bird figurines. The wall pocket depicts two birds perched atop a textured, basket-form base accented with a green relief maple leaf. The two companion figurines are modeled with outstretched wings and include small apertures on the back, functioning as miniature bud vases or novelty holders. Each piece is constructed of molded ceramic finished in a vibrant, multi-colored hand-painted glaze palette of yellow, green, purple, blue, and pink. The wall pocket features a flat back with a pre-drilled hanging hole and an unglazed base. While unmarked, these pieces are characteristic of the novelty wares produced in Morton, Illinois, during the mid-20th century. Dimensions are for the largest piece.
