LOT 275 Vintage Hand Carved Wooden 10 Inch Tall Tabletop Finial Sculpture Hardwood MADE IN THAILAND, made with a single piece of solid hardwood and polished to a glossy sheen. As seen in the accompanying photographs the wood selected by the artist has warm brown color with darker striations in the grain which add visual interest to the piece. The design itself features a series of deeply carved spirals executed on an ovoid piece of wood. The decorative swirled portion rests atop a thick round plinth that is domed at the top. The sculpture weighs 2 pounds and is in good condition however it does have one natural crack which is pictured in the photos along one side of the piece. There are minor signs of age/use present consisting of minor marks to the surface along with naturally occurring anomalies in the wood that are noted for accuracy. The piece is nicely sized and stands 10 inches high and is 5.5 inches in diameter at the foot. The piece has not been signed by the artist but carries a paper label reading "made in Thailand" This unusual wooden sculpture displays beautifully and meshes well with many kinds of decor from traditional to eclectic. An appealing vintage find!
