The Japanese print on paper has a stylized design of a standing red crowned crane with green lily pads. The colors are muted in blacks, grays, white, green and red.
The piece has a red and black mark on the left. It is a woodblock print by Kawano Kaoru, a Japanese woodblock print artist who worked during the Showa period (1926-1989). Born in Hokkaido in 1916, Kawano studied at Kawabata Art School during the 1930s.
The frame is a simple black wood frame. The print has an off-white matte and a brown paper backing.

CONDITION
There is no damage to the print itself. The colors look bright, dark and not faded. The paper backing has some tears along the edges. There are scratches and chips on the wood frame that could easily be touched up.
