
Description
The molded ceramic cup has an upper piece to protect one's moustache from the tea. The cup was fired with colorful Asian-style transfers.
The cup has a shallow foot with a glazed base. A diamond-shaped English registry mark showing that the cup was registered on December 6, 1880. There is a hand painted number in red for a production number. There is also a backstamp is a Caduceus, the symbol for a physician's symbol with wings and snakes. This mark was registered as a trademark by Powell and Bishop starting in approximately 1876. The mark was also used by subsequent partnerships including Powell, Bishop and Stonier.

CONDITION
There is a hairline from the mouth rim near the handle, but no other breaks, chips, or repairs.. There is wear to the foot from use.
