Description: Over the Mantle or Wall Mirror, Oil Gilded, Italian Renaissance Style, Heavily Carved
A once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire a monumental wall, console or over the mantle mirror. This late 19th century mirror having a later mirror center place flanked by a wonderfully detailed ornately carved frame. This work of art is not only large in scale but quality as well. The finely gilt frame depicting large floral design with shield, shell, box, scroll work throughout. The base having a central female bust flanked by rose and vine design leading to matching sides with central female busts on the face and lion masks on the side panels. The whole leading to a spectacular top having pierced carved ends flanking a pair of seated full bodied cherubs one holding a cornucopia of flowers on each side of a floral decorated shield. This monumental wall or mantle mirror is certain to attract attention and spark conversation. Imagine this mirror sitting on the floor in a large vestibule or foyer at almost seven feet high and eight feet wide.
Overall good stable condition. Sits wonderfully. Minor repairs throughout the years. Age and cracks as one would expect.
