
FRENCH EXPORT 0.800 SILVER CIBORIUM, a chalice-form vessel with cover having gilt finish, featuring applied decoration including religious medallions including angels, Jesus, and the Virgin Mary, accented by engraved, repousse, and chased designs and fine beaded bands, raised on a weighted and reinforced knopped stem and lobed foot which is engraved "In Memory of Frank S. Girardin", cover with cross finial. Edge of cover, rim, and other places impressed with a French Mercury hallmark for 0.800 silver fineness utilized for items made for export from 1878 to 1973 and an unidentified "V+F" or "V+P" maker's mark. Total weight of cover: 4.570 ozt. Late 19th/early 20th century. 12" HOA, 8 7/8" H rim.
