A large hardwood chest, 18th century and later, probably Dutch colonial,

with a hinged lid and a pair of carry handles, decorated all-over with large bosses

133cm wide, 51cm deep, 62cm high

Provenance:

The Select Contents of a Provincial French Estate.

Condition Report:

Re-finished and restored, with historic treatment for woodworm damage, which does not appear active. The runners to each end of the lid appear later, with later metalware and lock lacking. Previously with feet, which are also now lacking. Loss to one corner of the base. Some general splits, knocks and wear throughout. Hinges functional. General wear to the interior, which appears to be lacking fittings. Joints are sound and solid.
