An autographed card signed by the Union General, "W. T. Sherman/ General", penned on the reverse of his calling card. 3.5" x 2.25", [Washington, D.C.], undated. Printed text on verso. Together with a portrait reproduction of Sherman in uniform. Card features darkened off-set toning from prior matting, with light mounting residue to top edge and lower corners verso. Otherwise, very good with bold signature.
A general of the Union Army, Sherman (1820-1891) earned recognition for his command of military strategies, but was often criticized for his scorched-earth tactics that were implemented in his famous "March to the Sea".
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
