The lithograph presents a whimsical scene of a stout woman in conversation with a debonair lord sporting sunglasses and carrying a sword. This work is part of a limited edition of 300 impressions, numbered in pencil. It is one of the many examples of Picasso’s lifelong experimentation with printmaking and his distinctive ability to combine humor with refined draftsmanship. Widely considered the most influential artist of the 20th century, Pablo Picasso revolutionized modern art through his pioneering of Cubism and his bold reimagining of the two-dimensional picture plane. Over the course of his career, he created more than 20,000 works, including paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, stage sets, and costume designs. Le Seigneur et la Dame reflects Picasso’s enduring wit and his mastery of expressive line.
