Absolutely stunning antique late 17th century celestial map depicting Venus and Mercury's orbit from earth, from "˜Atlas Coelestis seu Harmonia Macrocosmica' by Andreas Cellarius (1596 - 1665). The map surrounded by superb decorations including two title banners held aloft by pairs of Cupids and the head and shoulders of more cupids. Two smaller spheres at lower right and left have two seated women holding books. The most beautiful of all early celestial atlases and produced in the golden age of Dutch map making.

It measures 28" wide by 25" tall total framed size, with a sight size of 20 1/4" wide by 17" tall. It is in very good condition for the age, with age appropriate wear. Nicely framed, simple forest green matte as shown.
