Description
Idyllic 17th or 18th century landscape. The name "Claude Lorraine" is meticulously inscribed in the wood, though its relation to the "father of European landscape paintings" is unknown. Though possibly Lorrain's study for a larger painting, this small original oil is more likely a later painting done after his style by his admirer and aspiring Italian artist.
