This massive hand carved wooden folk art heron sculpture appears to date to the mid 20th century and was likely made as garden or yard decor. The figure is carved in full round with detailed feather work and remains hand painted in shades of blue, gray, black, red, and natural wood tones, and is mounted on its original wooden stake for ground placement. It would make an excellent addition to any garden, or for use indoors as a great coastal accent.
