This large square ceramic floor vase has a heavily textured dark brown / black glaze with amber swirling surface decoration that gives it a raw, almost geological quality. The four faces are set with matte black panels, two of which are inlaid with a vertical brass insert in the brutalist style associated with Paul Evans, while the remaining two faces carry plain panels. The cylindrical neck adds a strong architectural contrast to the body.
