A monumental signed cameo glass amphora by acclaimed American studio glass artist Duncan McClellan (b. 1955), mounted in a custom white enameled metal stand that elevates the vessel to the level of sculptural installation. Blown in richly iridized mauve to deep purple glass, the surface has been deeply etched in a multi-stage cameo technique, revealing matte gray silhouettes in high relief.

The narrative unfolds across a stylized contemporary cityscape, where silhouetted runners sprint through a sequence of interlocking gears and steaming coffee cups. These motifs form a cohesive symbolic language: runners embodying drive and physical momentum, gears suggesting the relentless systems of modern life, and coffee cups functioning as icons of stimulant-fueled focus"”fueling the human machine.

Rather than depicting routine or labor, McClellan constructs a vivid allegory of urban energy, mental propulsion, and the tension between self-directed motion and external machinery. The amphora form"”rooted in antiquity"”is transformed here into a vessel for 21st-century striving.
