Description
Antique, Persian Sultanabad rug was hand knotted in Iran of 100% natural wool on a cotton foundation. This rug is 110-130+ years old, has medium wool piles and is in excellent condition for its age. The rug features a brick red to dusty rose field, now beautifully mellowed with age, centered by an elegant lobed medallion rendered in ivory, navy, and muted cobalt tones. The field is enriched with finely drawn scrolling vines, palmettes, and floral sprays, arranged symmetrically in a Safavid revival design that emphasizes balance and harmony. Surrounding the field is a broad sand and parchment-toned main border, decorated with repeating floral rosettes and vine motifs. The palette consists of brick red, sky blue, ivory, camel, and soft taupe. They exhibit a natural-dye character with gentle abrash (uneven fading) and oxidation, resulting in the highly desirable antique pastel aesthetic. No holes or repairs. This rug came from an established rug merchant. Clean and ready to be enjoyed. FLAT RATE SHIPPING OF $275.00 FOR THIS RUG WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
