Antique, Persian Kashmar pictorial rug was hand knotted in Iran of 100% natural wool on a cotton foundation. This rug is 100-120+ years old, has medium wool piles and is in excellent condition for its age. This rug is featuring a detailed pictorial "Zir Khaki" or "Antiquity" design. It was woven in a court-influenced workshop during the late Qajar to early Pahlavi period, and created with elaborate architectural and narrative design. The deep midnight navy field is organized as a highly symmetrical architectural fantasy, incorporating repeating arched niches framing palatial structures, minarets, columned halls, and stylized cityscapes. These architectural vignettes are interspersed with paired birds, decorative vessels, and ornamental cartouches, motifs drawn from Persian manuscript illumination and courtly textile traditions. The palette consists of deep navy, crimson, rose, wine red, ivory, parchment, camel, and soft turquoise, with subtle celadon and pale blue accents. No holes or repairs.
