Antique Persian Sarouk rug was hand knotted in Iran of 100% natural wool on a cotton foundation. The rug is 90+ years old, has medium wool piles and is in excellent condition for its age. This rug features a striking lobed central floral medallion set against a deep chocolate-brown field, a color combination especially prized by collectors and interior designers. The field is filled with finely drawn rosettes, palmettes, and scrolling vine work, all symmetrically arranged in the classical Persian court tradition. The bold medallion anchors the composition while the surrounding floral sprays create a sense of movement and depth across the surface. This rug is showing signs of abrash (uneven fading) from the use of antiquated vegetable dyes. No holes or repairs, nice and soft with a gorgeous design.
