Description
A Persian Balouch rug was hand knotted in Persia of 100% natural wool on a cotton foundation. It has full wool piles and is in like new condition. This striking Persian Balouch tribal rug featuring a bold lattice design set within a richly saturated red field—an example that stands out for both its clarity of pattern and strong decorative appeal. The field is composed of a repeating compartment (lattice) pattern, each panel containing stylized geometric motifs rendered in deep navy and ivory. This structured repetition creates a visually rhythmic composition, a hallmark of Baluch tribal weaving from the Persian–Afghan border regions. The rug is framed by multiple geometric borders, including angular vine and stepped motifs that reinforce the tribal aesthetic. The palette—vivid madder red, dark indigo, and crisp ivory accents—is particularly effective, giving the piece exceptional presence both in person and in online presentation. Unlike many darker Balouch examples, this rug’s brighter red field enhances its versatility, making it especially attractive to both collectors of tribal weavings and interior designers seeking bold accent pieces. This rug was acquired from a Richmond, Virginia estate. And was woven in the 1990s. Clean and ready to be enjoyed.
