Description
.750 bore diameter, 55.5" round barrel, patent breech. The lockplate marked Hodgson & Co. Early rounded lockplate, rounded hammer, pan with fence. Rounded frizzen. Walnut stock with brass furniture. The barrel held to the stock by four wedges. The barrel metal is smooth and gray with some staining. The lock is smooth and dark brown. The stock is full, has a crack on both sides about 19" from the tip of the muzzle. The stock has some nicks and dings, a couple of small slivers missing on the left side of the barrel. Overall a good example of this early fowler.
