The narrow white field of this rare Shahsavan pile rug is covered in a diamond lattice of serrated leaves enclosing geometrically stylised palmettes. This design is frequently encountered in the Caucasian regions of Shirvan, Kuba and Daghestan situated further north. The red main border displays cartouches and rosettes.
Condition
Signs of age and wear in the pile in places. Both finishes slightly reduced.
