Description
This elegant pairing brings together two distinct East Asian artistic traditions. The Chinese landscape scene is rendered on fabric, depicting traditional buildings nestled among trees beside a body of water with classic calligraphic symbols above. Complementing this is a Japanese Nihonga painting on silk, a style celebrated for its traditional pigments, featuring a delicate study of blooming white azaleas and a signature in the bottom right. Both works are housed in black wood frames with cream mats. One piece measures approximately 13 1/4'' H x 9 5/8'' W. Some wear and discoloration to the frames and mats, and the Chinese art piece exhibits wear to the fabric and a crack in the glass consistent with its age.
