Second page only of a typed letter to The Right. Hon. Sir Joseph Maclay at the Ministry of Shipping, reading "[...] The reduction which you are forced to suggest in the paper on Shipping, which you have so kindly sent me, would be fatal to our war effort alike in 1918 and 1919, and I am confident that we cannot leave any stone unturned or any practicable expedient unresorted to which will mitigate the disastrous consequences which you so clearly apprehend. I certainly could never acquiesce in seeing the whole Munition programme ruined and the striking power of our army vitally affected. I earnestly hope that no question of departmental procedure will be allowed to stand in the way of a vehement effort being made, not only by this but by every other channel, to avert the catastrophe which you foresee", one page, punch hole with tears to upper left corner, some discolouration, 4to, Ministry of Munitions, n.d. [1918].
