The piece is in near perfect condition was said to be purchased overseas from Asia and shipped to the US after a visit in the early 1970s. The Abhaya Mudra is a raised right hand and palm facing out, while the left hand is down and also facing out. This posture of the Buddha statue represents peaceful intentions and fearlessness.
