Description
A rare art glass sculpture from the Venetian carnival manufactured most probably by Seguso Vetri D'Arte and designed by Flavio Poli in the 1940ties. Clear glass with turquoise, white and black overlays and partial gold foil inclusions. Figure with tricorn hat and mask. The Seguso family has been documented as glassmakers in Venice since the 14th century. Seguso Vetri d'Arte was founded in 1933 by several glass masters amoung Archimede, Ernesto and Alberto Seguso. In 1934 Flavio Poli became artistic director and in 1937 partner. In the 1950s and 60s the Sommerso, Valva and Siderale designs of Poli became very successsful. After the retirement of Poli in 1963 Mario Pinzoni took over the artistic direction.width: 4.72 inches height: 11.81 inches depth: 3.94 inches
