a fantastic quality antique bronze statue of Cupid, dating to circa 1850-1900. The bronze is likely of French origin, but as it is unsigned we aren't certain. The bronze depicts a classical winged Cupid figure in the act of stringing his bow, with his quiver at his back. The bronze is very well done, with separately cast and assembled limbs, base and body allowing it all to be very detailed and well crafted, with hand chased and engraved texturing and detail work for the hair, feathers, bark, etc. The patina of the bronze is a rich chocolate brown, very stately and appealing.The bronze measures about 9 1/2 x 7 ½ inches and is about 13 ¼ inches tall. The bronze weighs 20.6 pounds or 9.3 kilograms.
