Apollo 17 vintage NASA promotional 8.5 x 11” poster produced as part of NASA’s Manned Flight Awareness program, celebrating the final Apollo lunar mission. The design features formal portrait photographs of the Apollo 17 crew—Eugene Cernan (Commander), Harrison Schmitt (Lunar Module Pilot), and Ronald Evans (Command Module Pilot)—above a bold graphic composition incorporating lunar surface imagery and the mission designation “Apollo 17.” The slogan “Assure They Go to Taurus–Littrow” references the historic landing site in the Taurus–Littrow Valley, where Apollo 17 conducted the most scientifically ambitious lunar exploration of the program.

This original poster was issued in 1972 to promote public awareness and internal morale during the Apollo era and represents one of the last major printed outreach pieces associated with the Apollo program. Its striking red, white, and blue design, combined with photographic elements of lunar exploration, makes it an iconic visual artifact from the culmination of NASA’s manned lunar landings.

Apollo 17, launched in December 1972, marked the final human mission to the Moon. Commanded by Eugene Cernan—who became the last person to walk on the lunar surface—the mission featured geologist-astronaut Harrison Schmitt, the only scientist to land on the Moon, and Ronald Evans, who piloted the command module in lunar orbit. The Taurus–Littrow Valley landing site enabled extensive geological sampling and remains central to modern lunar science.
