Chang-Díaz, Claude Nicollier, and Marsha S. Ivins. The cover is missing the signature of payload specialist Franco Malerba.

STS-46 launched aboard Space Shuttle Atlantis on July 31, 1992, and carried two major international payloads: the European Retrievable Carrier (EURECA) and the first Tethered Satellite System experiment, developed jointly by NASA and the Italian Space Agency. Commanded by Loren Shriver with Andrew Allen serving as pilot, the mission featured an international crew including Swiss astronaut Claude Nicollier and Italian payload specialist Franco Malerba, the first Italian citizen to travel into space. Mission specialists Jeffrey Hoffman, Franklin Chang-Díaz, and Marsha Ivins assisted in payload operations and deployment activities throughout the eight-day mission. Although the tethered satellite experiment encountered deployment difficulties, the mission marked an important step in international Shuttle cooperation and experimental orbital technology research.
