The cover is signed by four members of the STS-43 crew: Commander John E. Blaha, Pilot Michael A. Baker is not present, Mission Specialist G. David Low, Mission Specialist James C. Adamson, and Mission Specialist Shannon W. Lucid. Signatures present are Blaha, Low, Adamson, and Lucid.

STS-43 launched aboard Space Shuttle Atlantis on August 2, 1991, and was the ninth flight of Atlantis. The mission’s primary objective was the deployment of the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite TDRS-E, part of NASA’s critical communications network. The five-person crew consisted of John E. Blaha, Michael A. Baker, G. David Low, James C. Adamson, and Shannon W. Lucid. Lucid later became one of NASA’s most experienced astronauts, known for her long-duration mission aboard Mir, while Blaha also later flew aboard Mir as part of the Shuttle-Mir program.
