Description:A warrior / samurai leading a horse, both his swords drawn, is fending off a man, a commoner who is not carrying any weapons. He is shown shrinking back. Behind them, from a bridge three other men are watching the scene. - - This preparatory drawing ('shita-e') was part of a group of such drawings collected by the Utagawa school in numbered albums which served as study material for the school's students; the drawings now are dispersed in museum and private collections worldwide.
