Photographed in Beijing in 1990, Innate Nature depicts a mother and daughter before a mirror, absorbed in the act of grooming. With plain yet perceptive observation, the work captures a naturally resonant moment between adult and child in everyday life, revealing the subtle and vivid relationship between imitation, growth, and innate nature.
Wang Wenyang began working as a professional photographer in 1981. He is currently Vice Chairman of the China Artistic Photography Society, and formerly served as Director of the Photography Department of China Intellectual Property News and as a senior journalist. He was named one of the First National Top Ten Young Photographers, received the title of one of the Third National Top Ten Portrait Photographers, won the 4th China Photography Golden Statue Award, and was honored by the China Photographers Association as an "Outstanding Contributing Photographer," as well as by the China Artistic Photography Society with the "Golden Deer Honor Award." In the exhibition Original Aspiration: Retrospective Exhibition of the National Top Ten Young Photographers (1992) held in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Reform and Opening-up, his works were issued in limited certified editions by the Image Copyright Society of China and were exhibited and collected by the National Art Museum of China.
