Description
Slurbows were designed with a barrel after the emergence and success of the pistol and musket. The barrel is slotted at the rear for feeding the string. Measures 22 - 3/8" across the prod and approximately 38" in length. Prod retained by a traversal screw. Bead front sight with an adjustable rear sight, set triggers, and crude checkering at the wrist. Horn forearm tip, barrel retained by a pair of keys, and distinct upswet form for engaging popinjay. CONDITION: Barrel with mottling and darkness throughout, with flashes of gunmetal grey. Stock with handling marks and chipping throughout. Needs mechanical attention as nut does not appear to be tripping appropriately. Bowstring snapped on left side. PROVENANCE: Ex. Castlerock Museum.
