.52-caliber, serial number 71063, walnut stock with a light cartouche mark under the saddle ring bar, steel fittings, steel patch box with "DLM" stamped in the wood, marked "C. SHARPS' PAT/OCT. 5TH 1862." and "R.S. LAWRENCE' PAT/APRIL 12TH 1859" on the lock, marked 'C. SHARPS' PAT/SEPT. 12TH 1848" on the left side of the receiver, and marked "NEW MODEL 1863" on the top of the barrel.
