Description
This lot features two lanterns of distinct styles and periods. The first is an electrified wall-mounted sconce designed in the style of 19th-century American candle lanterns, specifically resembling designs attributed to E. F. Parker of Vermont. It is constructed of aged metal with a heavily rusted finish and features a rectangular body with clear glass panels protected by horizontal wire guards. The pyramidal top section is decorated with star and sunburst cutouts for ventilation and light spill. The lantern is suspended by a chain from a circular brass-toned mounting plate and is wired for electricity with a standard power cord. The second item is a contemporary rectangular candle lantern with a metal frame in a dark patinated finish and four clear glass panes. It features a conical vented top with circular perforations and a large ring handle. The interior base includes a fixed cylindrical candle holder. No maker marks, labels, or signatures are visible on either item.
