The statue comes from the Dehua area in China, noted for its Blanc de Chine white porcelain wares. The statue is 29" tall and depicts the beautiful goddess Guanyin, shown standing atop a rolling "waves" base adorned with beads and a flower; she wears a regal, flowing robe, headdress, and necklace, and holds a vase of "pure water" with her left hand, representing Guanyin's role as a purifier and nurturer, capable of relieving suffering and sickness, while her right hand is held in Mudra position.
