Description
Large Bronze Statue, Scalp By Frederic Remington. Remington?s fourth bronze, and his first of a Native American subject, was copyrighted in December 1898 as ?The Triumph.? The more common title, ?The Scalp,? refers specifically to the lock of hair that the figure, mounted bareback on a horse, holds aloft in his right fist. The Metropolitan?s bronze is almost certainly a posthumous, unauthorized cast done by Roman Bronze Works. H 26" x W 9" x L 20"
