The dish is made in a classic Imari palette of cobalt blue, red, and gilt decoration, though with the notable inclusion of vibrant purple flowers and foliage and a light blue color for the stems and ground. The bowl is a good large size, and would make a truly impressive addition to any table setting. The dish is signed Davenport on the underside in red. This piece is in excellent overall condition. There is a tiny hairline visible in the lid beside the finial, but this is hard to notice without close, careful inspection. The lid still rings well when tapped, as does the body of the piece. No chips, no repairs. The dish measures about 10 ½ inches in diameter and stands about 5 ¼ inches tall (including the lid).
