Description
This extensive collection features approximately 62 prehistoric Native American stone tools and projectile points sourced from the Upper Midwest region, specifically Illinois. The assemblage spans multiple cultural eras, including the Archaic and Woodland periods, showcasing a diverse assortment of regional lithic materials such as Burlington chert, Avon chert, and various local flints. The lot includes numerous notched and stemmed projectile points, scrapers, and knapped preforms. Highlighting the collection are several larger utilitarian implements, including a distinctively notched or grooved stone axe/maul and a large, heavily worked cream-colored biface blade. The overall condition ranges from fair to very good; many projectile points retain sharp edges and well-defined bases, while several pieces exhibit expected prehistoric field use, minor impact fractures to the tips, and ancient edge-chipping. The largest piece measures approximately H 5.75", W 3.75", D 1.5", and the smallest points measure down to approximately H 0.5", W 0.4", D 0.1". Please see photos for condition.
