Sixth volume of the prestigious collection 'Writings and Documents of Painters'. First annotated French translation of the satirical writings of the Bernese painter, poet and politician Niklaus Manuel Deutsch (1484-1530), a central figure of the Swiss Reformation and author of celebrated paintings such as the Dance of Death. Title page with portrait of the artist drawn from his mythological composition at the Basel Kunstmuseum. Cover with normal patina of time, interior fresh. Sought-after edition for studies on the Swiss Renaissance and the anticlerical satire of the Reformation.
