AN ADJUSTABLE 19TH CENTURY STANDING ARCHITECT'S TABLE

Description

The unusual adjustable work table with numerous features and compartments employs heavy cords and a ratchet mechanism to raise and lower the work surface. This is a high quality piece with heavy brass castors and in fine condition.

Measures 31H x 26W x 17D inches. Adjusts to 44 inches high with 11 inch fold out shelf.

Provenance: The estate of John Adair Jr. (1942-2025), founder and proprietor of Kurofune Antiques in Tokyo (est. 1978), a world-renowned destination for Japanese basketry, prints and furniture featured in The New York Times, The New Yorker, and The Wall Street Journal.
