Description
This is an antique salt-glazed stoneware bottle with an eight-sided octagonal body. The vessel features faceted sides that transition into sloped shoulders and a short neck ending in a thick, flaring, rounded rim. The exterior is finished with a salt glaze, resulting in a mottled tan and light brown coloration and a characteristic orange-peel texture. Small dark iron spots are visible on the surface, which are typical firing anomalies for this type of stoneware. The base of the bottle contains a small, circular impressed mark in the center; however, the characters within the mark are worn and illegible. This form is characteristic of 19th-century master ink bottles used for bulk ink storage and pouring.
