A typed manuscript for the novel Maximum Bob by prolific crime author Elmore Leonard. The manuscript is housed in branded wrappers from H. N. Swanson Inc., the famous literary agency the represented many of Hollywood's best authors and screenwriters. "MAXIMUM BOB" is written in marker on the lower exterior of pages.
This manuscript comes from the collection of journalist Larry Grobel, who recalls, "I first met Elmore "Dutch" Leonard at his home in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan in 1990. Time magazine had dubbed him "the "Dickens of Detroit," and Newsweek considered him the greatest crime writer in America. He was an easy-going, friendly man who had a remarkable gift for writing the way bad guys spoke. He was thoughtful about his remarks, and we developed an exchange of letters that lasted for years."
