A rare production script for the Steve McQueen racing film Le Mans (National General Pictures, 1971). This specific script was the production-used copy of the film's Property Master, Don Nunley. Nunley's name is handwritten in pencil on the top right of the script's title page. A signed letter from Nunley dated October 23, 2012 is also included that reads in part, "This is my original shooting script for 'The 24th Hr of LeMans." As you can see by all the colored pages there were many changes, sometimes 3 or 4 new pages a day. The script does not include every change, mainly because some were change dagain before I had a chance to add them to my binder. There is also an original shooting schedule."The script is housed in a red binder with a custom cover that reads: "The 24 Hours of Le Mans / Don Nunley."
The 70-page script is credited to John T. Kelley and dated October 5, 1970. The script includes white, pink, blue, and yellow pages. Included in the binder after the script is a 22-page one line shooting schedule and a 166-page locations breakdown. The front pouch of the binder contains a Tentative Shooting Schedule dated August 29, 1970 with handwritten annotations, a collection of loose revised script pages, two pages of black and white contact sheets, and a collection of press releases relating to the film on Cinema Center Films letterhead.
An original, folded, one-sheet poster for the film is also included.
