American Painted Corner Cupboard

Description

An exceptional example of 19th century American vernacular furniture, this painted corner cupboard exhibits a classic canted triangular form. The piece is surmounted by a molded cornice above an open upper section displaying four graduated, gracefully scalloped shelves with shaped fronts and rounded projections. Below, a single paneled door encloses a storage compartment. The interior is painted cream white, while the exterior retains a soft blue finish with honest wear throughout the paint, revealing layers of age and use. It measures approximately 80 inches high x 39 inches wide x 18 inches deep. In good condition with wear to the paint consistent with age.
