Description
This exceptional folk art face jug by acclaimed regional potter Clint Alderman depicts a Native American figure with sharply defined features, an elaborate feathered headdress, and vibrant cobalt blue face paint accents over a traditional green alkaline glaze. Signed with an incised signature on the reverse, the sculptural vessel beautifully exemplifies Alderman's commitment to blending history and tradition with fine art. Crafting pottery since 1996 when he began at the age of 15, Alderman throws each piece by hand on a traditional foot-powered treadle wheel using local dug clay from northeast Georgia, later formulating his own glazes from wood ashes and ground glass before firing them in a classic wood-fired kiln. The unique collector's piece measures approximately 13 1/4 in. H x 5 1/2 in. in diameter and remains in overall good condition.
