Description
This exceptional commemorative folk art jug by acclaimed regional potter Clint Alderman depicts a striking eagle alongside an American flag and incised text reading Liberty-2026, beautifully honoring American liberty over a traditional green alkaline glaze. Created to mark the United States Semiquincentennial, the vessel features an incised signature and date of 2026 on the reverse, perfectly exemplifying Alderman's commitment to blending history and tradition with fine art. Crafting pottery since 1996 when he began at the age of 15, Alderman throws each piece by hand on a traditional foot-powered treadle wheel using local dug clay from northeast Georgia, later formulating his own glazes from wood ashes and ground glass before firing them in a classic wood-fired kiln. This unique contemporary collector's piece measures approximately 11 3/8 in. H x 6 in. in diameter and remains in overall good condition.
