Description
This item is an American hand-quilted sampler patchwork quilt, dating to the mid-20th century, approximately 1930-1940. The piece features a variety of traditional pieced blocks, including Churn Dash, Pinwheel, Maple Leaf, and various Nine Patch and Four Patch configurations. It is constructed from numerous printed cotton fabrics characteristic of the Depression era, such as feed sack prints, ginghams, stripes, and calico florals. The quilt contains cotton batting and is finished with a solid light green-yellow cotton backing. The entire surface is hand-quilted in a geometric maze or grid pattern.
