Description
44 x 52 This mid-20th century American utility quilt is hand-pieced and hand-tied. The front features sixteen large blocks arranged in a four-by-four grid, separated by wide light blue cotton sashing. Each individual block is composed of sixteen small half-square triangles arranged in a grid pattern. The quilt utilizes a scrap aesthetic with a diverse array of patterned cotton and cotton-blend fabrics, including various calicos, florals, plaids, and geometric prints. Several blocks incorporate a recurring small-scale floral print on a white ground, while the rightmost column features a consistent yellow, pink, and white plaid. The quilt is finished with hand-tied white thread visible throughout the sashing and block centers. The backing is a solid light blue cotton fabric.
